What is Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States and Canada that celebrates the past year and other blessings.

How did Thanksgiving Day start, be celebrated, schedule, and become a national holiday?

Columnists from New Zealand and Canada regularly observed the days of Thanksgiving and blessing for safe travel, military victory, or harvest. The Americans celebrated this day as a festival in 1621. And Canadians thanked him in early 1553 when the U.S.-led expedition led to a safe passage. The United States and Canada residents gather with family and friends for a feast on this holiday and roam the traditional rented American turkey, cranberry, and pumpkin pie. Famous American writer Sarah JosephaHalee campaigned in the United States in the nineteenth century to celebrate Thanksgiving, a national day and finally gained the support of former US President Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln’s next president announced Thanksgiving in 1944 as an annual day. Recognizing the importance of Thanksgiving in Canada after the American Declaration, Parliament declared Thanksgiving a national day in 1879.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued an order declaring the fourth Thursday in November 1947 as a national day of the United States. Later, Canada celebrated Thanksgiving Day on the second Monday of October since 1957.
