Mughal Emperor Akbar collected taxes for the kingdom’s administration from 1556 to 1509. During his reign, the economy became entirely dependent on agriculture. He then decided, and for implementation, he created a new calendar for collecting taxes from people dependent on agricultural products. The name of this calendar was the Bengali calendar, and the first day of the calendar was Pahela Boishakh.
