The beginning of EID in Islam:

The life of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Mecca was very difficult and it was very difficult to survive in this situation.

And that is why there was no opportunity at all to observe and celebrate social rituals. When our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) migrated to Medina, the first opportunity to establish a sense of social independence for Muslims came. At that time, in the second year of Hijri, Allah the Almighty, through His Messenger (peace be upon him), instructed the Muslims to observe the national festival. Hazrat Anas (RA) has narrated a hadith. He said that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) migrated to Medina, the people there used to hold two festivals of joy every year. And at that festival, they used to play sports and have fun. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked, ‘What is the specialty of these two days?’ They replied, “We used to play and have fun in these two days in the age of ignorance.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Allaah has appointed two better days instead of these two to celebrate your joy.’

One is Eid-ul-Fitr and the other is Eid-ul-Azha or the day of animal sacrifice. (Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith: 1134, Al-Musdatrek Alas Sahihain, Hadith: 1091, Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 13622.

Islam is the religion of humanity. One of the elements of universality in Islam. And that is why Islam has introduced Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha as universal festivals for Muslims by forbidding them from participating in the ugly and discriminatory festivals that have flowed in the wake of ignorance.
